Keep Oglebay Blooming
Garden beds adorn most of the entrances to buildings across the Park. A concentrated collection can be found along the historic Hilltop, the Bissonnette Gardens, a stunning 16-acre public garden recreating the early 1900s gardens of Earl Oglebay’s summer home.
Featuring over 30 flower beds, colorful hanging baskets, fountains, and a whimsical floral clock, the gardens offer a seasonal floral showcase. Visitors can enjoy vibrant tulips in spring, a variety of annuals in summer, and rich fall mums. Maintained by a dedicated team, the gardens were re-dedicated in 1999 to Joseph F. Bissonnette. In 2017, the site added Miss West Virginia, a sculpture by local artist Jeff Forster, enhancing the beauty of The Hilltop near Oglebay’s greenhouse.
Gifts of financial support ensure that all the gardens within the Park continue to provide a beautiful backdrop for leisurely walks with friends, ice cream with your grandchildren and colorful memories to get through the colder months of the year.
